God Bless America

As Memorial Day marks the beginning of the summer season, especially here on the Cape, let's all remember what the day really stands for.....to honor our fallen soldiers who died protecting our freedom.  Long live freedom.

Did you know......to help remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the "National Moment of Remembrance" resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans "To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to 'Taps."

Lyrics to Taps:
Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.
Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;
Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
'Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

Clancy's Beloved Owner, Guy Erickson, Passes Away

June 24, 1950 - April 27, 2011

I would like to sincerely thank all our customers, suppliers, colleagues, neighbors and especially staff for your caring concern and tender notes of condolence over Guy's passing.  I will treasure your loving words and support forever.

For 19 years Clancy’s was a great part of Guy’s life. And in the last two years he certainly was the face – and the voice – of Clancy’s. I know we will all miss him dearly, especially his sweet smile and authentically friendly nature. He was undeniably warm, gentle and gracious. As the sole owner of Clancy’s (and who I would refer to as the “soul” owner) he was my love, our favorite guy and the true spirit of hospitality, treating everyone with enormous generosity, compassion, and friendship.

It will be my personal honor and my team’s mission to keep his spirit alive from this day forward. Clancy’s is, and will always remain, a landmark restaurant. We invite you to help us fulfill Guy’s dream of having Clancy’s be the heart of the Cape landscape. As he always said, “Clancy’s is not just a restaurant, but a home away from home, a place of great memories.”

We invite you to celebrate Clancy’s 25th summer on the Cape and help us plan for many, many more. Join me and my team as we carry on Guy’s dream and the Clancy’s tradition of fine food and friendly faces.

Guy’s devoted wife and Clancy’s Owner
